MEET CHRISTOPHER

“Progressively Moving Forward With A Purpose"
Greetings! I am Christopher Wade, a proud resident of Cheverly and the Ward One Council Member. More than 9 years ago, my family planted roots in Cheverly, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I love the diverse, family-oriented community where neighbors genuinely care for each other. Since moving here, I’ve immersed myself in the community and am proud to play a pivotal role in building foundational skills for my children through the Town’s activities and economic development agenda. I was born to a pastor and avid educator, who provided a strong fundamental foundation to guide me throughout life. For this reason, my motto has always been “Faith, Family, Education, and Service”. With your support, I’m committed to “Progressively Moving Cheverly Forward With A Purpose". As a Council Member, I am working tirelessly to advance four critical priorities:
  1. Community Engagement
  2. Economic Development
  3. Education
  4. Public Safety
I served on the Town’s Planning Board, where I advised the Mayor and Council on development, redevelopment, land acquisition, improvements, rehabilitations, and renewal proposals such as the redevelopment of Hospital Hill, the annexation of neighboring communities, and the expansion of designated pedestrian and bicycle routes from Cheverly to Bladensburg Waterfront Park, among others. In addition, I am honored to have sponsored and coached the Cheverly Boys & Girls Club intramural tee ball and basketball leagues. I am proud that our basketball team (Cheverly Chompers), won the 2023 5U league championship! Through these experiences, I’ve engaged with diverse members of our community, while also helping our children build foundational life skills.
I am a political and public policy junky by nature and love watching C-SPAN for relaxation! I have enjoyed a diverse career, which involved advancing critical policy priorities as a consultant to the Department of Homeland Security; working in the private sector at State Street Bank and Trust as an Account Manager; and serving county residents by managing community outreach and engagement programs as a Unit Chief with Prince George's County Government. During my tenure with the County, I worked with several key stakeholders in the community including Cheverly officials on noise pollution and traffic issues. I am also a small business owner and operate a premier social activation/branding company (DMV MEGA Booths) that provides in-person and virtual event services for corporate events, weddings, galas, festivals, and much more. A common thread that connects my career is my ability to work side-by-side with diverse stakeholders, including community constituents, the private sector, and elected officials at the local, state and federal levels to implement solutions to complex problems.
In my spare time, I’ve served on multiple boards, including the Board of Directors and the Finance Chair for the Collaborative Solutions for Communities, a high-impact community development non-profit that provides essential services to marginalized families across the District of Columbia; and the Boston University Dean’s Advisory Board (Member), where I serve as a sounding board for the Dean and University. I am an avid traveler and enjoy exploring new cuisines.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston University and Master of Arts in Public Administration from American International College. I am a member of Reid Temple A.M.E, Church in Glenn Dale, Maryland and Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. However, my greatest accomplishment is being a proud husband to Minty Wade (Cheverly Parent Resource Center Board Member) and father to Savannah (Maryland Institute College of Art Graduate), Christopher II (Chompers Champion) and Maverick (his name speaks for itself). It is truly an honor to continue to serve you in this new capacity and to advocate for Cheverly residents.
